Last night before going to bed, I was on twitter as I normally do some times when winding down and I was alarmed to see the following tweet…. ”
Dear husband: hurting the child makes you wrong. Every time. Be gentle, he’s much smaller than you”
I immediately questioned this is and the response “yeah, just annoyed roughness, which is unnecessary when gentleness works. Nothing major.”
Now, how would you take that? Those words have a lot of power behind them and causes a great deal of concern and although they may not mean an awful lot, they trigger alarm bells for me.
I did not like the thought that someone would say something like that without considering the consequences. I could have located the persons whereabouts and reported them to the police. Should I have done so? Is there a child at risk and have I not done the right thing?
I told a very good friend of mine that twitter was better than Facebook as it didn’t have the drama…. I’m starting to think that maybe social media as a whole, just isn’t very good.
I have since been deleted and blocked from the person, just through showing concern. What does that say for this person and the implications that come a long with it? Or am I simply reading too much in to this?
