Frozen Costume: A Review

I was approached by the kind folks over at Jokers’ Masquerade and asked if I liked dressing up costumes. I thought that it would be the perfect opportunity for the little one to delve even deeper into her love for her most favourite movie of all time, “Frozen”, and see if they had any in stock. She adores the film as I’m sure almost all children do world-wide. I was delighted when I received the email telling me that they DID have it in stick as well as her size.

I didn’t tell her that it was coming through, and her face was a picture when it arrived. It arrived at a perfect time because she had just finished school and received 2 awards for excellent attendance and being an effective contributor in school. Her Dad and I were very proud if her and it seemed right that she should be rewarded. She asked if se could review or help me because she likes to read my posts , so at this point, I am going to let her take over and talk about how she felt about the costume.

“When it came through the post, I was very happy because I really wanted an Elsa costume and I LOVE Frozen. My favourite part of the costume was the snow flakes and glitter and also because it was blue!  I feel really great when I have it on, and I feel like Elsa too. Blue is the color of the sky and white is the color of ice”.

For me, it was the attention to detail , the cape is very well made and it’s of a high standard all round. I would happily pay the retail price as I know that it’s going to last and I wouldn’t have any objections about her going out to play in it. I highly recommend this for its quality, and for the way it looks,  my daughter gives it 10/10!  Also, they do adult costumes and is perfect for any fancy dress party, or Halloween! Have a look at their website, here;

*Thank you very much to Jokers’ Masquerade for their kind offer of reviewing for them.

Forest Holidays, Strathyre: Review

Right now, I’m sitting in a hot tub.. ,  surrounded by glorious greenery, sunshine and all of this is located outside a beautiful cabin with some much needed, peacefulness thrown in. What more could you ask for? Personally, I wouldn’t need anything else but the folks over at Forest Holidays certainly go that extra mile to make sure that when you stay in one of their cabins, all of your needs are being catered for… Even ones that you didn’t think you had!

When Forest Holidays agreed to let me review this weekend, we decided to turn it into a bit of a surprise for the 6year old and not tell her where and what we were doing. There were clues such as “being in water at night, under the stars” and “sleeping in a forest”. As we turned off the A84, on to the little road leading up(which we later learned in our dusk walk with the ranger, was the old train track from London to Inverness)and she saw the cabins… Her face was a picture. It was worth it and it’s things like this that memories are made of.

We reached our destination and went into the reception/shop where we were greeted by the warm and friendly staff member who told us about the cabin (Silverbirch), the activities such as nature workshops and walks at dusk, bike hire, in house chef, birthday packages, romantic break packages etc to the fresh bread made locally and the pamper services. The staff go above and beyond to make sure that you have all that you need and if forgetting anything, they provide you with a leaflet and printed out fact and info sheet.

After getting the directions to the cabin which would be “home” for the next few days, We drove up to our parking place which was numbered to our cottage and had space for two cars, but if you have more in your party, you can pay for an extra parking for a small fee. We crossed a little bridge where we went over a  stream and entered into the most wonderful cabin, that I had ever had the pleasure of staying in.

All of us ran around checking out the bedrooms and Thunderpants chose a room which would be hers, the one with the “den” in it. I then looked into our room and was blown away. We had the most comfiest of beds, robes, towels and a fantastic en suite which had a bath even bigger than our own corner tub at home. There were cute little flooring lights and I knew I would be relaxing in this after the kids were in bed, with a book and a glass of bubbly.

We were so very impressed by what we were seeing and despite the rain, the views were beautiful, so very atmospheric and we felt  cosy in our cabin, especially after we put the log burning fire on. It was exactly what was needed for two stressed out parents and two adventurous children. I could feel my stress drain away, and the fact that we hadn’t any access to wifi was even better because it stopped me from doing any work, checking emails, going on to Facebook and other social media platforms. This was a break from all of that and some much deserved and needed time, without distraction.

After dinner, which we chose to use the  BBQ, we headed out for the dusk walk with the resident ranger who told us all about the local area, the wildlife, plants, and animals. he was a very resourceful guide and he had Thunderpants captivated as well as the adults. You could tell that he enjoyed his job a lot, and really got quite a bit out of educating folk. We took some pictures of where we went , as you can see below.

During the course of the weekend, we also went into Callander, just to pick up a few things but to be honest, I would have been happy to have stayed at the site without venturing out. I think I will be trying out the canoeing when we hope to visit at the end of the summer with some friends, as well as some of the other ranger led workshops too.

There is so much to do here at this location, whether the sun shines or not and we are planning a stay in November for my Birthday and our Anniversary. One night alone, and the rest with friends and family. I have so much to say about our stay because there was so much that we experienced in our three days. I would thoroughly recommend this as a romantic getaway or as a family break. It really is a multi-functional holiday destination! Please do visit, because you won’t be disappointed.

* A special Thank You goes out to all staff who arranged this for us.

Kit Heath Jewlery

I was on twitter one day last week when there was a request out to review a beautiful “Kit Heath” necklace from their very lovely children’s range. I had looked at their website( and in my experience of shopping for younger kids, girls in general, I have to say that I have never came across such quality and beautifully made necklaces… until I was introduced to the world of Kit Heath. I wish that I had known about them before as I would have bought items for my daughter and her friends for gifts at Christmas because they are very well made, the necklaces are sterling silver, and very strong without being bulky., and the prices are simply amazing for the quality and simple but expressive designs.20120305-153653.jpg

The designs truly do capture the heart of little girls , and their memories of childhood, without being overly old because lets face it, kids do grow up far too early and with some forms of jewelry out there, this is most definitely age appropriate. For a mother who worries about my daughter growing up too fast, I would not hesitate to buy many different things from the catalog. From such lovely collections titled “secret garden”, “Bow Jingles””Pick n Mix” and “Simply Charming”, amongst others, this is the perfect gift for any little girl to have.

When the package came through the door and my daughter saw what was inside the box, she was just as taken by the pretty red and polka dot bag that the necklace came in, which she was very impressed by and described it as the “treasure box” that it came in. We were given the “Candy Twist” necklace from the Fairground Collection,20120305-153722.jpg which stated in the description as being “bright lights, huge candy canes and massive smiles “, this is so very true and they have designed a necklace which truly captures this. With other necklaces and bracelets called “daisy ” and “Tooth fairy”, how could you not want one of these? There seems to have been as much thought and care when the designer first started out at the age of 18, as there clearly is now and it’s nice to see someone with an obvious passion in making these little gems 20120305-153441.jpg

I would highly recommend these as gifts for birthday’s, christenings(they have a range catered for that too), as gifts for little girls at weddings who are flower girls, or really any occasion when you want to make the little one in your life feel special , as mine had felt on Saturday when her necklace arrived, despite being a bit of a tom boy!

All in all, I am pleased to have been given the opportunity to have reviewed this product and I look forward to buying some of the items and also from the adult range too which is just as lovely as the children’s range. Thank you Kit Heath, for showing us your world of beautiful jewlery.
